Smallmouth Bass

Smallmouth Bass Fishing - Ottawa Valley

Probably one of the most exciting things that you can do at age 6 or 60 is to hook into one of Lake Clear's fighting smallmouth. Pound for pound they are probably one of nature's greatest thrills. Lake Clear smallmouth average two and one half to three pounds. Four and five pound smallmouth, while not as frequently caught, are not uncommon.

Our bass season opens the fourth Saturday in June and runs through November 30. Fishing is best during the first couple of weeks but can slow down quickly during the hot weather. Late August and September bring the strikes back on with a vengeance and provide some of the best fishing and scenery of year.
